Kudo’s to you and Dan for taking a leadership position in advocating for the passage of SB239.  I would echo Rana’s caution above that we’re not done yet.  I also encourage any one who has not filled out the petition to do so.  This bill can still end up dying in the Assembly or if passed ended up not being signed by the Governor.  I have long believed that each of us within established parameters should be able to decide what our options and final wishes at the end of life should be.  Government is a poor substitute for letting the individual and their family choose what course to take at the end of life.  With the recent passing of my mother, had she been able to choose to end what was inevitable six weeks earlier, she would have been spared the agony of not being in control of her life and would have saved taxpayers around $100,000 in Medicare and other medical insurance costs.
