Being in this (security industry) for over forty years I have experiences with all types of camera installations and this one can get rather pricey. Here is an example of one such installation, and it is not uncommon for an installation to cost this much being that it is an “outside” installation and is subject to environmental considerations.
“Automated license plate readers, or ALPRs, first appeared at police departments in the 2000s, as specialized and expensive cameras. Collins says today those devices typically cost $15,000 to $20,000. But last year Rotterdam embraced a newer generation of ALPR technology, software that can discern plates from more or less any conventional security camera.”
This does not include the costs of maintenance or replacement of components.
As the rule goes…this type of security is 1% verifiable detection, and 99% business as normal. What companies have the proven experience to offer their expertise in Las Vegas to see a working system and how long has it been working for a comparison.
