GARY THOMAS replied to the topic Does SCA Have Plumbing Issues Again? in the forum Where I Stand 3 weeks, 2 days ago
When we bought our home in 2020 (Golf Mesa) our realtor and inspector “warned” us about the shark bite issues. We were encouraged to have accessible connectors inspected and to be vigilant about checking for any signs of leaking if we did not intend to replace the shark bites. We also had plumbers tell us that many, many SCA homes with the shark…[Read more]

Forrest Fetherolf, a long time Sun City Anthem resident passed away at home on Sunday.
Forrest was a retired LAPD motorcycle officer. While on duty on his motorcycle he was hit by a car and nearly killed. He survived but with lifelong disabling injuries. He ended up in SCA and invested in a few homes he used for rentals and ended up doing repairs…[Read more]

GARY THOMAS replied to the topic THE TECHNICAL SIDE: INTEGRATING LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION: in the forum Anthem Voices 3 months, 1 week ago
Over the years the technology of LPRs has evolved.
However, thugs know this and utilize ways to obscure or mask their plates. If I was going to enter SCA to commit crime I’d know or spot the LPRs and make adjustments so as not to have the reader ID my plate. You can buy fake plates, covers, temporarily obscure, etc. and then replace quickly.

Hopefully there is an exemption to the “no flashing lights” rule for Christmas decorations or the enforcement arm of the HOA / ARC will be calling up the reserves in December. ;-)
What would happen if the entirety of SCA followed the strict “letter of the law” and put in requests for every tiny thing that would technically (VERY technically) r…[Read more]

For clarity, if an existing plant dies is ARC approval required to replace it? Same spot, same plant?
Also, what about “volunteer” plants?
I might encourage some simple parameters if the HOA is going to regulate security cameras. I understand not wanting big, ugly, commercial grade cameras bolted on the front of homes (see pic) but the new, user…[Read more]

Placing a hand on a person’s chest generally constitutes the crime of Battery, the unlawful touching of another without authority. Sounds as if the so-called “hearing” was just a formality to codify a fait accompli decision. They probably noted that the resident was given an opportunity to speak and address the BOD but was a “no show” thus closing…[Read more]

I was told that since SCA streets are mostly public streets that there was no codification of those signs and HPD was unable to enforce a “No Solicitation” sign. There’s supposedly a letter to the SCA HOA from the city explaining why, if I can find it I’ll post it here.
We’ve gotten them at our house including offers of new windows, solar…[Read more]

It was suggested to me that if I want a particular candidate to be assured of a full term vs. a one year fill-in term that I ONLY vote for that person. Since all candidates will be appointed to the board, it will help someone I support to get a full term. So I am going to only submit ONE vote for a candidate I know well and support.

I am a relative newcomer to SCA, only 2 years of living in this wonderful community. Not unlike big government (city / state / federal), the lack of transparency re. our small BOD is disappointing. Seriously, it’s five local residents managing a 7,100 home community with residents from a pretty common demographic. The board isn’t overseeing a…[Read more]

Can someone please privately message me and let me know who this upstart is and where he posts? I am fairly new to Anthem (2 years ) and live in SCA. We love SCA and want the best governance and leadership we can have.
This election will be the first one we’ve been involved in and my wife and I want to be well informed voters. Admittedly, I…[Read more]

Sounds much like a bit of a “Star Chamber” operating behind closed doors. As a fairly new SCA homeowner I am concerned the more and more I hear that the SCA BOD operates so much out of the “sunshine” and when we bought we didn’t even know about the other regional “board” or association the the SCA HOA belongs to and that, apparently, we pay (via…[Read more]

I would definitely support Mr. Forrest Fetherolf for election to the BOD. My wife and I moved to SCA one week before the pandemic, we arrived to our new home on Valentine’s Day 2020. Mr. Fetherolf was one of the first persons we me as everyone else was in isolation mode. We had some new homeowner things pop up in our new home and he was…[Read more]

GARY THOMAS replied to the topic SCA Restaurant: To Try Again or Not! in the forum Where I Stand 1 year, 10 months ago
We moved to SCA last year so we never saw a restaurant at the center. I am curious as to why the proposal calls for the Buckman’s folks to run it. Here are my questions:
1. If one of the 2 restaurants (Buckman’s / SCA) is short staffed, are there assurances that staff won’t be pulled from the other location?
2. Will the menus and pricing be…[Read more] -

I have also noticed that there are many street signs now obscured by common area / island / etc. trees that have not been trimmed. Additionally, lawn areas at the entrances to some villages, usually where the village name wall is, are not being reseeded or patched in dry areas or where there is dog damage.
A company getting a sweet contract to do…[Read more]

GARY THOMAS replied to the topic This grassy Area is Not a Dog Park in the forum Where I Stand 2 years, 2 months ago
Our friends bought a home in Anthem, Arizona which I believe is also a Del Webb development. When they moved in 8 or so years ago there were no fenced in dog parks. Homeowners presented a petition and otherwise lobbied the HOA / BOD and they got their dog park.
I am hoping, with all the dog owners in SCA, that a movement can be started and our…[Read more]
