Steve Anderson commentary after the SCA board “Tasting invitation”
Above is the front and back page of the final Yorktown Grill menu with prices. There is also a dessert menu and drink menu. The Board of Directors was invited to a menu tasting this evening. We tasted the Matzo Ball Chicken Noodle Soup, Sonoma Chicken Salad Sandwich, Asian Kale, Edamame and Sweet Corn Salad, Crispy Asian Shrimp Spring Rolls, Smash Burger, Black Garlic Pasta, Garlic Herb Basted Half Chicken, and the Grilled Skirt Steak. We also tasted the house made French Fries and the house made Chips and the Slow Roasted Vegetable Ragu. At the end we tasted the flour-less chocolate cake and the cheesecake.
Mind you we had just bites of all of the above dishes. What impressed me was that everything is made in-house. Everything is made from fresh ingredients and done in the kitchen. This includes everything from the pasta, Parker House Rolls, sauces, and desserts.
For the price, diners would be hard pressed to find any restaurants where you can find a similar quality of food. I could make a whole meal just of the Parker House rolls that can be had with garlic butter or sweet honey butter.
The renovated space is bright, open and airy. There will be a happy hour daily with excellent prices on the drinks. WHG is well poised to do as they have promised in providing the diners of the Yorktown Grill great food, great service, and reasonable prices.
More information will be coming shortly as to the hours, making reservations, and other details. While I realize that we will never please everyone, I am sure that the Yorktown Grill will be a most positive experience for the vast majority of people who will choose to eat there. Remember they will also be happy to take call in orders that you can pick up or have delivered via Grub Hub.
I am excited and I hope that you are too.
