MARCIA KOSTERKA
KeymasterThe following is my opinion on a subject that is important to all homeowners.
Today will live in the history of our community as the biggest “black eye” to date. Please allow me to explain. First and foremost, some definitions need to be addressed in order to understand what occurred in SCA.
In the continuous self-proclaimed wisdom repeatedly demonstrated by the board of directors and management, there were two meetings today simultaneously occurring at the same time-both of which had importance in their own right. After the infamous CLC (Community Lifestyles Committee) demonstrated their self-proclaimed wisdom by changing and/or altering the CCG&Rs WITHOUT FIRST having a workshop with all the boards of chartered clubs before sending them on to the BOD to rubber stamp the changes, they decided to have their workshop TODAY, AFTER THE FACT. That is known as the “cart before the horse” method of decision making. Concurrently, the new BOD’s were having a meeting to choose their officers.
First and foremost, some definitions need to be addressed in order to understand what occurred in SCA.
SUPERCILIOUS-(you can include the noun twit if you so choose) haughtily disdainful or contemptuous, as a person or a facial expression.
arrogant, scornful
INFAMY-the state of being well known for some bad quality or deed.
notoriety, disrepute, ill fame, disgrace, discredit, shame, dishonor, ignominy, scandal, censure, blame, disapprobation, condemnation.
Because of the two meetings occurring simultaneously, three members of the SCA Entertainment Club board split up to cover both meetings. When the CLC workshop was completed, we were told that the supercilious chairman still is demanding work licenses for an event(s) from the vendor which occur only once per quarter of the calendar year. This is AFTER the City of Henderson has issued a written mandate that a license is NOT REQUIRED IN THESE SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES. The written mandate from the city has been given to the GM of our association. The fact that the City of Henderson’s web site needs updating is no different than SCA’s web site that is also sorely in need of updating.
Now on to the SCA BOD’s infamous meeting where officers of the board were chosen. Unfortunately, one of the new promising members of the board , chose to telegraph to the jaded incumbent members of the board, how she felt about how they have governed. (My father taught me at a young age that you never telegraph to your enemies your plans.) At this point president, Rex Weddle demonstrated in all his glory, his incompetence in conducting a meeting with total disregard to Robert’s Rules of Order, and angrily his umbrage in being challenged that an “upstart newbie” would have the audacity to challenge and criticize his conduct along with other incumbent members of his minions. They protested and swore that those who have nominated and voted for in regards to president, treasurer, secretary and vice-president WAS NOT DECIDED BEFORE THIS MEETING. Methinks thou doth protest too much!!! If we are to believe that this was never discussed until the meeting was called to order, then I will become the first Jewish president of the United States and, you know that is never going to happen! Here is where the definition of the word SUPERCILIOUS needs to be applied to the incumbent members of the board. Their anger, ire, and aspersions came into play. How dare a newbie criticize them and Rex Weddle in particular when in their own minds they have governed with perfection and in the best interests of…..WHOM? Certainly not the members of this community!!! If they want accolades for making some very bad decisions, both financially as well as morally, then we will grant them that. Judging from most of the member comments at this meeting, the association is fed up with this kind of “fiefdom vs. serfs” autocracy. After listening to Weddle, Burch, Nissen, and Waterhouse on speaker phone, it became increasingly apparent that when you lie down in the mud with the pigs, you become one.
And who are the biggest losers with the incumbents still in control?? NONE OTHER THAN THE GOOD CITIZENS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHOM HAVE HAD TO ENDURE THIS TYPE OF SHAMEFUL GOVERNANCE YEAR AFTER YEAR.

InactiveI was the one that went to the CLC meeting. I would have preferred to go to the Board meeting but made the choice to attend a meeting that was important to the Entertainment Club.
The CLC and Ms. Seddon still don’t believe the City of Henderson executives know what they are doing. Today I was told that until it was on the Henderson website, in writing, they would not believe that anyone that produces one show per quarter (or has one speaker, etc. per quarter) doesn’t have to have a Henderson Business License. We had to make an appointment with the City executives and personally go to City Hall and have the City write a letter on their letterhead that we did not need a business license. Talk about a silly waste of time. The City has more important things to deal with other then all of our clubs going downtown on a regular basis for a letter telling Anthem a business license is not needed.
THE HENDERSON WEBSITE IS NO MORE UPDATED THEN THE ANTHEM WEBSITE.
The License problem is on a “TBD” basis, probably until Debra March’s unsuccessful opponent in the recent election decides to tell his son to go ahead and update the web. That’s right, guess who is in charge of Henderson’s website?
The CLC meeting was in the room next to the Board meeting room and we could hear them screaming at each other through the wall. One of our new attorneys was present for the Board meeting and that must have made a great impression on him.
I am not going to address the insurance problem that has been shoved down the throats of clubs at this time. But, stay tuned for that one.
One last comment….what the hell is going on that the incompetent Rex Weddell was elected for a 2nd term? We have had some bad presidents over the years but he is the worst in recent memory and we are stuck with this disrespectful person as head of our association board for another year. Did anyone notice that he was near the bottom in votes from the residents?
