Rana GoodmanKeymasterStatement Regarding BOD Run Refused
By Robert Stern
Against the wishes of my family and some of my friends I had intended to run for the 2026 Board. I filed my nomination form disclosing in good faith the Settlement Agreement that was reached with Nevada Real Estate Division (NRED) in April 2016. It’s a complex story but the bottom line is I agreed to a 10-year prohibition from “serving” on any Board. I was not found guilty of anything. NRED which had dirty hands that I uncovered, also was not found guilty of anything. We just made a deal and I am proud of my service at Anthem Highlands. One other Board member I served with at Anthem Highlands had a similar deal. Another Board member was removed by order of the Commission and paid fines and costs.
I was already living in SCA when the final paperwork was completed. The Commission didn’t and doesn’t meet every month and the paperwork dragged as the mill grinds slow. So, a deal that was reached in April 2016 didn’t reach its final destination till June 16, 2016. So NRED gets its 10 years but current counsel, the Election Committee and Martin Maxey apparently wanted 11 years to keep me away. And so be it even though they were prematurely wrong I asked for the 5 weeks differential be waived as the spirit of the Settlement Agreement had been fulfilled. Technically according to the language, I cannot “serve” until June 8.
They got the SCA counsel whom I have been calling for his replacement long ago to spin it and so I was sent a letter right after my filing on January 7 claiming I couldn’t be nominated which is not precluded by law as I disclosed the 5-week issue and agreed that if the Commission denied the waiver, then my nomination could be pulled without any disruption to the process. The Election Committee designed to conduct a fair process failed its mission.
I prepared a draft flyer which I have attached. I wanted homeowners to have a choice as I bear some responsibility for the 1,3,5,7 election success that has turned out to be a mess. It’s not all my fault. I am not responsible for the bad deeds of SCA Directors.
I will play this out with the Commission in March and maybe this isn’t over. I will accept my fate as it is probably a blessing in disguise. My life is quite full. And my candidacy wouldn’t ensure election.
Maybe I can become a ONE HIT WONDER. Just yesterday George Strait agreed to compose and sing one of my lyrics. And I have a movie that is going into production this year called FLY OVER COUNTRY and maybe I can get George Strait to join the fun in some role or cameo.
http://www.81andhavingfun.com That’s my website where you can hear lots of fun music. Check out A Senior Moment. His song will be posted in about 10 days. Can’t wait to hear it. It’s called If You’re Not Having Fun! In the meantime, check out the site and enjoy my attached draft flyer. LOL! It’s not fully edited.
Please pass this charming email onto your network. They may find it informative and amusing. Also attaching one of my newer songs called City Boy. Let me know if you like it. I absolutely love it. The odds are I will be sitting out this election and I urge you if you are competent and have a strong stomach that you take up the torch.
I want again to apologize to the Community. I’m sorry for the petty political state of governance. As it ironically turns out two of the current board members were not vetted enough. One did not disclose her obvious conflict of interest and should be disqualified if she attempts to seek reelection or if the attorney is doing his job have recommended her removal at this time. Another non-disclosure appears to be some bad stuff being asserted against an officer that if disclosed it may impact board service and immediate removal. That issue ought to be investigated by the attorney to see if there is any substance to the rumor. I personally do not have any evidence.
If the Commission grants the waiver in March this chapter may not be over. Stay tuned. Again, Happy New Year and may 2026 be a great year for you and our community.
