Attached is our NW March 15 newsletter.  We do have a burglary alert as well as a reminder about video recordings.

As before, please pass this newsletter along to your neighbors that do not receive it.  Also, please encourage all of your neighbors to become a NW participant if they haven’t joined in.  Lastly, for all of my Big Sky block #3 participants who live on Foxtail Creek from 2836 to 2880, we are STILL looking for a new block captain.

Please respond to me if you are willing to take over for Toni

    March 15, 2026

(For the period March 15 – April 15)

Sun City Anthem is a very safe community, but we still need to be alert and take security precautions.

Burglary ALERT! A burglary occurred at 9:15 pm on February 23 on the 2000 block of Cotton Valley Street in Arroyo Vista Village. Trash bins had not been set out for trash pickup the next day. Burglars smashed in the glass sliding door (no security film), ransacked the master bedroom and closet, and pried up and removed a safe containing much of value. There were video cameras, but they were not active.

Another burglary was reported on the 1300 block of Couperin Drive, right around the corner from Libretto Avenue. The homeowner had just moved into the home on Feb. 23, and was out of town from Feb. 26 through March 1. Entry was made through the back sliding door, method unknown. A Rolex watch and valuable gemstones were stolen. The residence had no video surveillance.

An attempted burglary occurred on Libretto Avenue in Mountain View Village on March 5. To quote HPD Officer Alex Alcantara, “25xx Libretto was an attempted burglary. Suspect could not make entry and cameras in the front and back alerted the absent homeowner who called 911 right away. This is a perfect example of having cameras in the front or back. Images were turned into detectives for follow-up.”

LESSONS: Take extra security precautions when away; have active video surveillance front and back; secure sliding glass doors (locks, drop bars and security laminate); even a bolted safe is no guarantee (keep copies of valuable papers in a secure place).

Video Surveillance Cameras: The Neighborhood Watch Program and HPD recommend installing video surveillance cameras: a video doorbell and a backyard camera. They can assist police in criminal investigations by enabling them to review past videos — join the HPD CAPTURE program.

Video surveillance cameras provide real-time alerts to motion, such intruders. If you see a crime underway you can call 911 for an immediate HPD response. You can even answer the door from across the country, making potential burglars believe someone is home, possibly deterring them. Ring, Arlo and Nest are options. You may need an annual subscription to record events. Check frequently to be sure the system is functioning.

SAVE THE DATE: The annual NWP Spring Safety Event will be held on May 14 from 10-11:30 am in the Grand Ballroom. HPD Chief Reggie Rader will be the primary speaker. Other speakers will be Captain Kenneth Youngblood, head of our HPD West Patrol District, and the 911 Dispatch Center chief dispatcher. There will be time for extended Q+A. Three $1Be safe! Scan for tips Join the SCA NWP00 door prizes will also be awarded. All SCA residents are invited to attend!
