ParticipantOn Sunday the Candidate Forum and Meet and Greet of candidates took place to an overflow crowd so that homeowners could evaluate for themselves the candidates. Feedback and consensus was that the two new candidates Pamela Williams and Rick Ernest fared very well and that the board incumbents seeking reelection did not.
On Monday, using the Sun City Anthem Community Chronicles it publishes a message from the Board of Directors claiming a fiduciary duty to refute criticisms. That folks is pure election interference in support of the board incumbents and once again demonstrates the poor judgment and abuse of power of those currently in charge.
The issues selected were clearly campaign issues.
1. Is COO Sandy Seddon worth the money? The Board states its fiduciary duty is to let you know that Sandy Seddon’s work “averages 50-55 hours per week”. Do they have time cards? No. So how did they meet their fiduciary duty? They didn’t. Pure electioneering defending incumbents.
2. Defense of accounting and the CFO and financial statements frequency and quality as if the current work product is adequate for transparency and operational needs as that is the question. And anyone in our community with senior operational accounting experience knows how deficient the work product is. Talk about fiduciary duty.
3. The restaurant’s finances and its history and the future of financial decision making all in support of the incumbents. Claiming that they are refuting criticisms as it is their fiduciary duty to do is in itself disinformation. This Board of Directors has been rightly accused of misleading homeowners with misinformation, disinformation and lack of transparency. Their claiming fiduciary duty as a basis to abuse official email communication to refute criticisms in support of incumbents seeking reelection is more evidence of the failed leadership and poor judgment of our current community leaders. How far are they willing to go?

ParticipantWith regards to the use of the number of hours worked by the COO as a justification for her salary- that is a lame excuse. Anyone can put in more than 55 hours a week- an inefficient worker can do that. I would like to see the productive hours. And this is the time to open for all to see the job description and salary range for all the full time, part time and contractual employees. A week ago, I requested for that information. I haven’t received the document.

ParticipantFor those that think we have such a bargain for dues, Sun City Summerlin posts their last 5 years of budgets on their website for anyone to access easily. They have 3 golf courses, 4 community buildings, and 3 times the employees we have. They have about 600 more houses than we have and their dues are about $250 a year more per home. That does not include the additional assessment for the villas and pinnacle village.
For transparency we should be posting much more information on our website that you do not have to login to see. Let’s be proud to show anyone what our community has to offer!
