SCA Neighborhood Watch Newsletter
(For the period June 15 – July 15)
SCA CRIME REMAINS LOW: So far in 2026 we have had three burglaries and one attempted burglary. They occurred in Arroyo Vista, Black Mountain and Mountain View Villages in February/March. Here’s a summary of the commonalities for these 2026 burglaries, and what precautions you can take. We published more details in our March 31 Burglary ALERT.
- Homeowners were out of town: Make your home appear lived-in while you’re away. For more tips check out Summer Travel at NWP Security & Safety Tips or scan the QR code below.
- Break-ins were through the sliding glass door: Sturdy security laminate can provide a level of deterrence, making entry more difficult and time consuming.
- Video surveillance works: The one attempted burglary was foiled because the homeowner was able to sound an alarm and call HPD. Be sure your home alarms and video surveillance are activated.
- Have layers of deterrence: Lighting, video surveillance, secured doors and windows, neighbors looking out for your home while you’re away, have the SCA Community Patrol do a house check (702-614-6751).
- Join Neighborhood Watch: None of the homes were members of SCA Neighborhood Watch! If they had been members, they might have taken the precautions that we send out in emails and have at NWP Security & Safety Tips or scan the QR code below.
DO YOU HAVE HOME SECURITY RECOMMENDATIONS? I am often asked for recommendations on installation of home security video surveillance. Please let me know (by phone or email below) about a good (or bad) experience you have had with installation of home security video surveillance. Also, have you had good or bad experience with installation of security laminate for sliding glass doors. I’ll publish a summary of your experiences in a future NWP Newsletter.
HOUSE NUMBER PAINTING: You may have received a notice from the Association that your house number needs to be repainted. I just had mine done and I’m very satisfied with the results. It was done by Russ Lomenzo, who can be reached at 702-580-2321. The cost is very reasonable.
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED: We need Neighborhood Watch block captains in all villages. Without volunteers, the SCA NWP will not be able to provide safety and security information to SCA residents. Many of our original NWP stalwarts are aging out, and new blood is needed. Please consider volunteering to be a NW block captain by contacting me below.
TAKE HOME SECURITY PRECAUTIONS: Sun City Anthem is a very safe community, but we still need to be alert and take security precautions.
