& Gives Peace of Mind!
A few days ago, I noticed a post by one of my neighbors on Facebook that reminded me about a program by the Foundation Assisting Seniors that could have helped.
If you live alone, please consider signing up for this fabulous FREE program, it may save your life!
The post I had seen reported was the discovery of a neighbor in my community who was discovered deceased in his home along with his little dog.
The medics that took care of him stated that he had been gone about 30 days. His cause of death was not reported, but imagine if he had a heart attack, stroke or some other accident and couldn’t get to a phone for help.
How RUTM is a free subscription program that is, a daily automated phone call, like a neighbor dropping by just to make sure you are safe and comfortable in your home. Eligible subscribers are seniors over 50 years of age and better or a veteran of any age.
You can choose your program from several options, like the time of day for your call. If you don’t answer, How RU calls back two more times. If none of those calls are picked up, they notify your designated emergency contacts to make a physical wellness check.
If your emergency contact cannot be reached a call will be made to non-emergency responder to perform a wellness check.
This program has saved the lives of those who became incapacitated in their homes and needed help.
Many years ago, I had a neighbor living next door whose lot was considerably lower than mine. Each morning when I let my dog out into the rear yard he would run to the fence between us and look for my neighbors’ dog so they could play ‘tough guys” and bark at each other.
My neighbor and I agreed, if either of us hadn’t seen the other’s dog we were to phone each other and make sure we were OK! It worked for us until he moved away. Look how easy it would have been had we all had How RU available then.
If you would like to know more about this great program, you can sign up over the phone…. Just give a call to (725) 244-4200 a volunteer will take your information over the phone. In the event that you are going out of town, Call HowRU and ask that they suspend your calls for as long as you like.
