This morning my eldest daughter reminded me that the Kentucky Derby is fast approaching on May 7, 2022.

In years gone by, I used to take trips to Los Angeles with my daughters who were about 7 and 8 years old at the time. When the trip happened to coincide with races at Santa Anita the three of us would go and root on our favorites.

We used to drive serious betters within ear shot of us crazy as we picked by the best-looking horse, the colors the jockey wore or just the name of the horse, many times we actually won our $2- and $3-dollar bets.

This year certainly brings back those memories for the names alone. Here is the list I am betting on this year, and the excellent reasons why I chose them.

Charge It: odds as of 4/30 20 to 1  (since I LOVE to shop, this was a natural choice for me!)

Slow Down Andy: odds as of 4/30 40 to 1(another natural since my daughter’s nick name is Andi, short for Andrea and we always say she is always on 78 RPM.)

Crown Pride: odds as of 4/30 50 to 1 ( my family always refers to me as The Queen due to my, attitude and pride in my British home land)

Between the names and the odds, I’m so ready for this years Derby… I’ll let you know if I win LOL!
