Rana GoodmanKeymasterEditor’s note: Many times when we retire people think that all we have to do is sit at home and watch TV or indulge in hobbies. Martin Maxey, although retired, has partially filled his time with groups around our city and taking healthy group classes. This does not mean he has no time lest to serve on a HOA board of directors, to me it shows a man who is capable of scheduling his time and doing things that challenge him. I like the way he thinks and am happy to add him to the candidates I am endorsing……. Please consider voting for James Mayfield, Clara Lau, Martin Maxey and James Sypitkowski. .
Martin’s clarification from his Candidate Forum comments should reassure those that had seen a red flag. Martin is an integral part of the what we hope will be a new common sense competent board majority. Please vote for Martin Maxey, Jim Mayfield, Clara Lau and James Sypitkowski.

CLUBS & COMMITTEES
Several people have asked me about my answer to the clubs and committees question. It is my understanding that you have gotten feedback as well in terms of my time to devote to our community.
I do belong to one political club in SCA and the men’s breakfast club, which I didn’t know about, does interest me. My main interests are lifelong and I have found clubs in Henderson and Las Vegas that fit those interests; namely Kendo and Jujitsu. I’m also a member of a local Masonic lodge. So most of my time that I would devote to clubs is taken; and these activities are mostly evening.
With only 60 seconds to answer an unknown question I believe it sounded like I don’t have any time left in my life to do other things. My days are open and I intend to work diligently. At this point, I believe my focus will be on facilities and capital projects as that is probably where I can do the most good. My objective there would be to make sure that the budget is being followed and properly managed by the General Manager. I would be looking to review that the proper identifier codes are used in accounting. Oversight of the GM is a board responsibility and capital projects are where lots of our money goes and I would expect that our new President would welcome me accepting that task.
As far as committees are concerned, I understood that committee Presidents approved appointees before going to the board for approval. Hence I didn’t think I could get on a committee as I didn’t know any committee Presidents. Clearly that will change.
