ALERT: An SCA homeowner was expecting a delivery from Lowe’s. A white Silverado truck pulled up pretending to be the Lowe’s deliverers. One of the men was let inside to use the bathroom. He came out and the truck left hurriedly. It was discovered that the man had stolen a credit card that was on the counter in the house. The real Lowe’s delivery came soon thereafter. HPD was called to the scene. A neighbor volunteered that they had video of the incident. HPD was able to apprehend suspects and, with the video, has a solid case. Lessons: Require ID for home deliverers, don’t let workers in the house unsupervised, don’t leave credit cards lying around, video cameras are a great help in solving crimes, and Neighbors Looking Out for Neighbors works.
New village facilitator: Many thanks to Brian Rubin for stepping up to be the NWP Village Facilitator for High Mesa Village. Brian recently stopped working and decided to volunteer for our great community. He and Wendy are looking forward to getting to know the block captains and residents of High Mesa Village. Thanks, Brian!

Crime continues to be very low: We have had only three burglaries in 2025, one each in Westridge, Southridge and Valley View Villages. For reference, we had 9 burglaries in 2024, 10 burglaries in 2023, and we averaged 24 burglaries for the years 2018-2022. Thank you, Neighborhood Watch participants!
Personal Safety While Walking
Now that Fall is here and the days are getting shorter, SCA residents should implement nighttime safety practices when walking around the neighborhood in the dark. Remember to stay in well-lit areas and avoid distractions like headphones that limit your awareness. Carry a phone and flashlight with you, let someone know your route, and if possible, walk with a neighbor or family member. Always select reflective clothing when walking. A visible presence on the street not only improves your safety but also discourages suspicious activity.
Be safe!
