Before my father passed away in 2003 he often tried to convince me to allow him to add a wing to his home so that I could move in there and more easily care for him and my mother.

I recall telling him that I would not be happy living in his neighborhood, however, if he would let me show him homes in newer areas, like Anthem, etc. where we could get a home large enough for the three of us, I’d be glad to move with them.

It was not the ethnicity of his neighborhood I objected to it was the way no one cared for their homes any longer. My parents home was a showplace with magnificent “curb appeal” in fact it sold within weeks that I had it on the market. Other homes were run-down and shabby looking, all the original neighbors long gone.

My mother and I purchased our home in Sun City Anthem and one of the things that I loved, as I became active in the community was the diverseness of the population. I have a neighbor who is from Vietnam, a neighbor around the block who is African American, and many in my village of Big Sky from all kinds of ethnic heritage and religions, it’s wonderful.

With only a couple of tiny outbursts over the years, SCA has always been “a color blind”- “ethnically blind” community….. Suddenly it looks like that is about to end over a war of words that two grown men won’t ignore.

Anthem Today is a private Blog, as are all the blogs, not only in SCA but everywhere. What is posted on them are 99% the opinion of the author. Agree with it or not, that is a fact and argue all you want, this is a free country and we are ALL ENTITLED TO OUR OPINION. No one can force, shame, or bully another person into a debate because they don’t like or agree with what is posted on their private blog.

Likewise, IN MY OPINION I don’t believe it is appropriate for a member of our board to use his or her position as a board member to use board meeting time to read personal emails “bashing a blogger” using a name or redacting it…. It simply has no place at a board meeting. If the director wishes to share his ranting with another blogger, so be it, but do so as a resident, don’t use your board position to bully and intimidate, you are supposed to be better than that, at least in the eyes of the people who voted for you.

I live for the day “we can have peace on our hilltop” and have our men get out of the sand-box. I don’t know about all of you, dear readers but personally, I’m so tired of the backstabbing and bickering. We live in one of the most beautiful communities in the valley, why can’t we focus on the good stuff and stop all this BS?

AMEN!!  I am so tired of all this bickering and bashing.  I love SCA and chose 16 years ago to spend the rest of my life here.  I moved my Mom (now 104) here with me so we could lead a peaceful, tranquil life in a city I came to love long before I moved.  Maybe we should just build a giant mud pit and let these guys sling it out and get it out of their systems.  Like you, I have and have had all my life, friends of all races and religions and even though I was brought up in the South, I was raised to be color blind and religion blind.  I worked for 35 years as an International executive and have friends all over the world that I cherish and respect.

Come on guys, this is the 21st century and we should be beyond all of this, especially at our ages.  Stop all this nonsense and let’s get on with our lives.  Just don’t engage with each other.  Don’t think you have to answer insults from each other….you don’t.  It’s the mature thing to do.

    Amen to that, Patsy.

Sun City Anthem has always been “colorblind” until the element of racism was introduced via James Coleman and David Berman.

A private email was not returned for one reason…it was DISGUSTING to even consider such a ridiculous accusation as a result of missing one word in the title of a Sun City Anthem Club…

…and oh so typical of one individual who has demonstrated he will stop at NOTHING to destroy the character of anyone.

What Coleman never understood was my attempt to NOT ALLOW HIM TO MAKE AN ASS OF HIMSELF, yet in his infinite wisdom, his “need” for some kind of childish revenge drove him to a person WHO WOULD.

You see, Mr. Coleman, YOU WERE PLAYED, but obviously your dedication to dividing a community with racial tones, overrode your ability to see it.

Is this the first time, that supposed “reporter” would commit such an HEINOUS act?

    Of course not.

Remember the “fake” petition that included 8 names to remove Rana Goodman from the Senior Citizen’s Advisory Commission and the influence that man had to disallow her the opportunity to be on the Lifestyle Committee?

This…to the woman who almost highhandedly worked her butt off to revise guardianship laws in Nevada !

Remember the Woodchips suicide that the reporter MANIAC made every attempt to blame…because of the members just happened to be running for the Board?

How about the calling of Forrest Fetherolf a “clown” and “slippery” while our new president , Bob Burch, HAS CALLED HIM FOR HOME REPAIR ASSISTANCE on more than one occasion?

    How do you spell “H Y P O C R I TE”  ????

But to have a member of the Sun City Anthem Board support a man whose integrity was LOST when his illegal forgery and fraud background was well known, and  then sending that same DEFAMATORY email to  him which in his DISTORTED MIND, took it upon himself to PUBLISH IT, asking to SEND IT TO OTHERS, displays LOW CLASS..on both their parts.

To even suggest that missing word involved “ethnicity” was something Anthem Opinions made every attempt to avoid until Coleman insisted on making a public UNPROFESSIONAL DISPLAY at an official Sun City Anthem Board meeting.

It was something that in my opinion, EVERY PERSON OF EVERY RACE, should object to, and NOT BE A PART OF SUN CITY ANTHEM in any way.

Just remember, it was JAMES COLEMAN and DAVID BERMAN, in tandem with each other, who introduced that UGLY WORD to our community, NOT ONE of them, but BOTH OF THEM.

And for that, BOTH should thoroughly be ashamed of themselves.

Now you know WHY nothing was ever responded, and NOTHING EVER WILL BE.

I have NO RESPECT for any person who would introduce RACISM to our community, and even LESS RESPECT for those who would look FOR GUIDANCE from ANY PERSON who WOULD.

Anthem Opinions has, and always will, ignore any person who in any way would do so.

    CASE CLOSED.

As is often the case David Berman came after me today for this editorial stating that “Rana Goodman has lost her moral compass.”  He took the main thrust of the point I was trying to make and, as he often does, tossed it aside and focused only on Jim Coleman’s right to address his grievance at the board meeting. My point was taking away the feeling SCA has always had, for me at least, as a “color blind community.”

I am entitled to my opinion, that is, after all what FREE SPEECH is all about. Don’t tell me that David Berman and Mr. Coleman think that only applies to statements that agree with theirs?

I think it’s amazing that the person with no moral compass whatsoever says Rana has lost hers.  He should get a grip.
