Editor’s note: I am not perfect, and must fess up to a big error after living 3 doors away from Wild Iris on Foxtail Creek for the last 21 years, I actually published the following item and never noticed my error in the title. The stop light we are hoping for would be at WILD IRIS & ANTHEM PARKWAY.

On Wednesday at 9:00 am at Kneaders Bakery, Henderson Mayor, Michelle Romero will be meeting with residents for a morning chat.

Several residents of Big Sky Village are hoping to appeal to Mayor Romero regarding the need for a traffic light by Wild Iris and Anthem Parkway.  Several years ago I was asked by some residents of Big Sky to speak to then Mayor Debra March, who directed me to the division who took care of traffic needs. I struck out on that but at the time I was told that they would reconsider at a later date.

Since that is the village I live in and my home is very close to that corner, I must tell you that sitting at the corner of Wild Iris waiting to turn left if an unbelievable challenge most days. It is almost as if drivers heading down the hill towards Bicentennial and Sun City Anthem Drive fancy themselves as Mario Andretti and the green flag just indicated GO!

Does it take a tragedy to take place on that corner to get the city to take notice?

It isn’t funny, but each day that I head out of our community and turn right on Eastern, the first traffic signal I encounter is just past Kneeders. There is a small community of homes to the right, a parking lot on the left and just steps away another traffic light….. Why, who knows?  unless the city felt like two signals a “breath away from each other” was important. Of course it does jam traffic attempting to continue down Eastern but who knows, perhaps that was the plan.

If you have thoughts on this issue and are able to attend Wednesday at 9:00, we will look forward to seeing you there.
